Now What?

Some basic rules for Disaster Prepping for Procrastinators

It’s Wednesday and it looks like Tropical Depression 94L could become another named storm, this time it will be named Nadine. So far, it doesn’t appear to be a threat to Florida.

Natural disasters can hit with little to no warning, forcing you to either shelter in place, or to evacuate to a safer area. Having a plan in advance can be the difference in having all the paperwork you will need access to if your home is damaged or destroyed, having keepsakes and personal items that are important to family members preserved, and knowing if the place you might evacuate to will accept your pets in their carriers or crates if necessary. Having a plan can save you from heartache, in the face of a disaster.

I have included the front pages from my Book, “Disaster Prepping for Procrastinators’, which also includes supplemental texts to keep track of what you need to shop for and what already have on hand. It helps immensely to keep your foods rotated and accounted for.

I have also included a page that lists some basic rules for prepping using my system. Rather than wait and be at the mercy of FEMA and the kindness of strangers, make some preparation now. Anything is better than nothing. Also, don’t feel bad if you have prepped and those you’ve warned to also do so, didn’t listen. I always recommend getting a little extra to help with neighbors in a crisis, also. You either stick together or you all fall down.

Next week, I will give examples of how to get your house in order one room at a time. Just know, I am also a MAJOR procrastinator, I have rooms in my house I need to get in order as we speak so I am writing from a place of understanding. Just do something. I’ll give you a task to do each week, to help you begin the basics of ‘setting something by’, a practice that was commonplace in the times our parents grew up. #BeEncouragedTAL
