I shouldn’t have even been up that late, but there I was, late night scrolling on Facebook back in 2011. Now, don’t laugh, that was the ‘thing’ to do back then, I know some of y’all…most of y’all were RIGHT there with me, spending too much time late night on Facebook, in everybody’s business but your own…
Well, a picture popped up on my feed, and my first thought (I admit it) was, ‘Those are some FINE ass White boys!’, followed by me clicking on the video…it didn’t take 10 seconds and I was HOOKED! One thing I love is a Rock intro with drums, then a crash of the lead guitar and bass following up on, loud enough to blow your eardrums out. Yes, I play my music loud, always have and always will.
Whenever I want to slap myself awake if I am writing, I can just put AOD on shuffle and within a few minutes, I’m speeding along on whatever I need to write. There’s something about their familiar sound that wakes up my creative brain and shuts out all other distractions for a while. Do you have a favorite go to Band or Artist that you can depend on to help you be creative in a pinch? If you don’t, I recommend that you start to search through your playlists or other people’s playlists to see what ‘tickles you fancy and excites your soul’. (Kudos to anyone who knows where that comes from). This is the video from that release, ‘Die Trying’.
Art Of Dying - Die Trying [Official Music Video]
Their most recent album just dropped, I learned how to pre-order it on Spotify (Jonny said that was important for their debut spot) and listened to the entire thing as soon as it dropped…they did it again!
Those are my Boys! Every time they have new music come out, it’s JUST in time to put one of their songs in the playlist of whatever book I am working on. This time I’m putting ‘Best of Me’ in the next Book Playlist, because of the sweet voice of Jonny’s daughter on the back end of the vocals. Find what works for you, better yet, give them a listen!
